Last week in Mrs. McComsey's class, we mixed math with a little baking magic! 🎂✨ Learning how to follow a recipe isn’t just about making delicious treats; it’s all about applying math skills like measurements, fractions, and sequencing. Our lesson for the day turned into a sweet success as we whipped up a yellow cake, brownies, and Reese’s peanut butter bars! The students practiced accuracy, teamwork, and patience – and enjoyed some tasty rewards in the end! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳 #MathInTheKitchen #BakingWithMrsMcComsey #LearningIsSweet #TaylorMiddleSchool #TaylorTide

A photo of a recipe for Sweet Potatoe Muffins, with a picture of muffins. It reads, "Ingredients: 3 c. mashed sweet potato 2 c. flour 2 tsp cinnamon 1 tbsp baking soda 1/4 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp salt 1 c. sugar 3/4 c. vegetable oil 3 large eggs 1 tsp vanilla 1/2 c. ground flaxseed meal, optional. Sweet Potato Muffins, Instructions: To prep the sweet potatoes, pierce the potatoes with a fork and place on a foil-lined baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for approximately 45 minutes, or until the inside is soft when poked with a fork. Remove and let cool. When the potatoes are cool, peel off the skin and mash the sweet potato filling until any big lumps are gone. Measure out 3 cups worth of filling. To make the muffins: In a large bowl , combine the flour, cinnamon, baking soda, baking powder and salt. In a seperate bowl, combine sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Stir the wet ingredients and then add the sweet potato. Pour into muffin tins. If using flaxseed, sprinkle on top of the muffins. Bake at 325 degrees for approximately 30 minutes. Notes: 3 large sweet potatoes is approximately 3 cups. If you run out of sweet potatoes, you can add in some mashed banana"
