🎉 We kicked off the year with our first school assembly, focusing on the values that make our school great: Respect, Responsibility, and Safety. 🙌 Happy students smiled from the bleachers as they listened to our principal, Dr. Birk, introduce the "30 Second Rule," reminding everyone to think before they speak and avoid mentioning things others can’t change quickly. It was an inspiring start to the year, setting the tone for a supportive and kind environment where everyone can thrive. ✨ #CBSD #TaylorTide #BacktoSchool #KindnessMatters

a photo of students in a classroom transformed into a McDonald's. The article reads: " McDonald's comes to school. Students in Mrs. Maurer's Learning Support Class at Taylor Elementary School created its own McDonald's store, courtesy of the Columbia McDonald's. The store was designed to increase memory skills; reading skills; math concepts such as small, medium, and large, as well as money skills. Each child got the chance to be a waiter or waitress and had to build up the ability to remember an order of two, three, then four items by size, sandwich, and meal. "The only problem was that we all got hungry, while we were educating our minds," Mrs. Maurer said."

photo of a news article from Tuesday, March 10, 1992 called "Starlab delights, educates students" The article reads "The Taylor Elementary School gymnasium in Columbia took on a slightly different character last week. Normally, it's used for physical education, as a cafeteria and for assemblies or displays. Last week, however, the steady hum of an ordinary window fan was punctuated with enthused, childish cries of discovery and wodnerment inside an inflated silver bubble. The other worldly ight was Starlab, a portable planetarium provided by the Lancaster-Lebanon IU13. The bubble, made of industrial strenght polymer and offereing about 200 square feet as class space, is a proven teaching aid.
